A Distinct Identity

Harrietsville Mossley United Church does its ministry through relationships, not through big splashy programmes. The people of the congregation minister through relationship not only while they are engaged in ‘church’ activities. They also bring to all their relationships the gifts that the Holy Spirit has placed within them, the compassion of Jesus that flows through them, the presence of God who is near, who cares, who helps. Wherever they are, whatever they are doing, they are ambassadors for Christ.

For many of the people in the congregation, this church is ‘family’. People come, stay and get involved because this is a community in which they feel welcomed, accepted, loved and supported.

This church is the kind of ‘family’ where people find healing for wounded spirits. The wounding has come from
a variety of experiences: losses, grief, mental health, addiction, violence and abuse, broken relationships. Those who have been a part of this faith community for a long time have been cared for, comforted, nurtured and loved by other members of the congregation, especially in their most difficult experiences. In the past few years, some of the people who have begun participating in this church have come to the community wounded and broken. They have found here a community of humble people who accepted them without judgement, who listened deeply with genuine caring and compassion, who supported them in their journey toward healing.
